An Area Index is calculated for each
variable which measures how expenditure
on detailed Housing Cost items in the
area differs from what would be expected
based on the US average. |

patterns in an area related to Housing Costs.
Both the relative volume of expenditure
on, as well as the relative allocation of
expenditure among, detailed Housing Cost
items can be evaluated.
